MKV to DVD -- audio loses sync - I usually use FAVC for this type of conversion. Tell it to keep the original AC3 audio, and use HCEnc for encoding. It will be 4 times faster than tmpgenc , and can also use SRT subs. Thanks. I downloaded FAVC and followed the instructions on http://www.digital-digest.com/articles/FAVC_Video_to_DVD_Guide_page1.html . But there's a co ...

MuxMan Error - Why? If you have the DVD get the Celltimes directly instead. Open the DVD in PGCEdit , double-click on the movie, in the new screen hit the CellTimes.txt button at the bottom, and in the new screen hit OK and save it. Otherwise convert the times to seconds and multiply each by 29.97 if for NTSC and 25 if for PAL. I don't know of any autom ...

1080p WMV to 720p WMV? - Encode360 is frontend to Windows Media Encoder and is much better at handling formats such as MKV and AVI than the one included with the encoder. Try encoding in WVC1 using Quality Based VBR set to around 90, audio quality 98. Be warned though, Windows Media Encoder is not the fastest encoder ever ...

Question about converting .mov - Update I've found the enthusiasm to download MPEG Streamclip and play with it. Somehow the MOV converted to AVI with the Sorenson codec produces a file that looks OK and loads into WMM which hasn't crashed yet! I've exported to a WMV which looks acceptable to me, and I'm just uploading it to youtube to see how it compares to my previou ...

At what point is a second pass pointless? - Presumably my assumption that the single pass is produced at a constant bit rate is wrong then? That's correct, it's wrong.
